I would like to point out a possible problem with the 'Book & Pay directly online' function.

Having three future reservations with SANParks, I tried to look at the 'My existing reservations' page.

The response I get is the message:

'We could not find any forthcoming reservations for you.'

It must be noted that I can access the 'Browse accommodation' and 'My details' pages without any problem.

I hope that this is merely a linking problem, because if my reservations are gone I will cry crocodile tears - and I find it terrible to see a grown man cry!

Hi Bigman,

Did you register on the Online Booking system, or did you "Web enable" your existing account?

Looking at the info you provide this is clearly a case of multiple client codes at SANParks.

Please email reservations@sanparks.org and ask them to "merge" your accounts, so that next time you log in online, you can see all your pending reservations in record.

I experienced the same problem, and enquired at Sanparks. I got the following reply :
"Good Morning
Yes you can't view bookings for June -July 2010 in advance because Web booking open 10 month in advance
Regards "

Now I don't know. The copy of my reservation confirmation was supplied, which includes my client number, reservation number, payment details, and reservation dates etc. If it is booked, it should be on the system, and if reservations can see it, then so should I ?

Hi eagle,

You need to tell them that as a web client you do not see your reservations made via other channels (telephone, email, etc). That way they will know that this is a case of multiple client codes and will merge your previous account(s) into the web one, so that you can see all next time you log in online.

Let me know...

Nedret, you were spot on - they merged my accounts and "Voila!"

Thank you very much!

I would like to know what is going on in the Sanparks reservation office this week. Tried to fax the cedit card payment form more than a dozen times on Monday and Tuesday; however the Sanparks Fax-device didn't work correctly. For that reason I scanned the form yesterday evening and sent it by e-mail. No answer! Today I sent a reminder by e-mail. Hope I will get an answer tomorrow. I dislike the idea that my reservation could lapse due to technical or other problems of Sanparks!

Hi Crested Barbet,

I'm sure you'll get response by the end of business today...

However, why don't you pay the amount via the booking system online?

You do this at your own time and don't have to talk to anybody. :)

Hi Nedret Saidova,

thank you very much for your answer.

Today I got four e-mails from Sanparks: 2 deposit request letters and 2 final confirmation letters! All for the same reservation no. and within 10 minutes! Hope, it's all settled now.

To answer your question:
1) I did't know that it's possible to make payment via the booking system online if one haven't made the booking via the central booking system.
2) I usually book by e-mail because all reservations made online will require immediate and full payment by credit card. And booking accommodation for more than 3 weeks would mean to pay a lot of money in advance. For me that would be too much to pay 11 months before the start of the holiday.

Hi Crested Barbet,

I'm glad you are sorted out. :)

Just to clarify... Bookings created on the web need to be paid in full there and then.

Bookings created via other channels may be paid partially or in full - online - but in accordance to the terms stated on the reservation form itself. So for example it is 30 days before your trip - you can login, retrieve your booking and pay the outstanding amount online.

Hope this helps.

Hi Nedret Saidova,

thank you for your explanation.

However, if I log in I don't retrieve my bookings, I only get the message "We could not find any forthcoming reservations for you." Maybe you can help me with this problem.

Hi Crested Barbet,

This means that you have more than one client account at SANParks.

I have forwarded your request to our colleagues at Reservations. I'm sure they will merge your accounts soon and let you know when done.
