Summer Breeze by Seals & Croft .

It reminds me of when I accompanied a ranger doing a grass survey in the central district , we climbed a koppie (rocky outcrop) called Mathikithi , when sure there were no dangerous animals on the summit he left me alone for an hour or so , the breeze gently rustled the grass and my hair as I watched it make patterns in the grassland below .

I experienced a unique feeling of well being being alone in the wilderness and the song will allways remind me of tranquility and oneness with nature .
KNP is sacred. I am opposed to the modernisation of Kruger and from the depths of my soul long for the Kruger of yesteryear! 1000+km on foot in KNP incl 56 wild trails.200+ nights in the wildernessndloti-indigenous name for serval.

Halala Afrika - Johannes Kerkorrel
He lives in You (from Lion King)

Loved the Africa version done by the choir. The way they imitated rain brought goosebumps.

Without a doubt and i think everybody will agree that Johnny Clegg is the best to associate with Kruger.
Down south it is "spirit of the great heart" theme to Jock of the bush veld :D
and when up north, 'African sky blue'
it tends to help a bit to have some enjoyable music in the car on those long trips through the mopani scrub. Then when you are home you think of Kruger whenever you hear that song on the radio.

My favourite album to listen in the car while driving in Kruger is
Goo Goo Dolls Greatest Hits Vol 1 and I always skip it to "Slide" since the lyrics "So why don't you slide into my room" is just how I feel sliding back into that relax nature 8)

Another favourite Kruger song (and it was mentioned already)
Prime Circle "Consider Me"
"People who have nothing to say, speak the loudest." - John Rzeznik

For me, it is anything from the latest 'Kings of Leon' album.
Been listening to it in the car lately, not too good for my sanity as I just want to go back to the KNP.

Bring on December 11!!!

It reminded me of a very gifted composer/musician, David Hewitt.
He released an album, "African Tapestry".
Its a fusion jazz compilation of the best chill music I have ever heard. His track, "Sunrise", used bird sounds to open the music.... it took me straight to the bush.

Sadly, this very talented lover of Africa got early onset Alzheimers and died at the age of 50 years. :(

I am on my way to see if I can find a copy of "African Tapestry".
The bird doesn't sing because it has answers, it sings because it has a song.

Picture this scene.....

Me sitting in a pair of shorts, cold beer in hand, in front of the PC.

Not good yet,...well wait...

Busy on the forum, 4Km from the gate with the African sunset busting through the open window and stopping against my back. The sky is orange / red, the night sounds are taking over from the day sounds (Insects and birds, as well as baboons), does it sound better yet... :hmz:

And in the background, my SO playing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" on the piano (she can play well)...

What a way to end a very hot day close to "paradise". 8)

So close,...but yet so far. :wall:

My Kruger song is definitely My African Dream by Mango Groove. Heading for Kruger at 2am tomorrow morning and it will be in the CD shuttle for sure.

OK here is a rough translation - hopefully the effect is the same ;-). Tambotieboom is a type of bushveld tree - as in Tamboti restcamp.

"bury my heart at Klein Tambotieboom
and scatter my ashes over the bushveld horizon"

"staring into the distance from a cliff
the happiest I have ever been
lying on my back in the nature reserve
the wind sings my name"

You really have to listen to the song I guess - lol
