Hi everyone,
Just to say we had a splendid day. A very interesting venue and glorious weather. HMS Victory stunning, very atmospheric, glad we weren't there in 1805 but glad we beat the French! Harbour cruise was excellent and views from the Spinnaker Tower were amazing too.
We so enjoyed meeting such lovely, like-minded people and it all felt so natural to be together. Putting faces to names will make reading the forum much more interesting in future.
Thanks again Sara for organizing it all, you're a star!
We hope to have a repeat performance in the not too distant future.

Take care wherever you are,
PF and SO.

PS. Kamprunner was correct I did need those beers!

@Dotty....all pics of forumites must be approved before they can be published .....so it takes a while before a TR is up and posted :(

So hurry up guys and get those :cam:s approved. Any other pics out there?

Hi everyone,

This is a first attempt to upload images to the forum, so here goes ...
Image
The first port of call on a fabulous day for the forumites, HMS Victory in the Historic Dockyard of Portsmouth, UK (stitched together from 5 images).

That seemed to work okay, so here are some more photos from that great day out:
Image
The Spinnaker Tower at the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour. The viewing platforms are at the top of the curve.
Image
On the first gallery there is a glass floor - do you trust the strength of the glass ???
Image
And from the second gallery you get a wonderful view of HMS Warrior, one of the original "ironclad" warships.
Image
And a view of Old Portsmouth with the fishing fleet.

The boat trip round Portsmouth Harbour gave us great views of ...
Image
... HMS Illustrious ...
Image
... and Gunwharf Quays.

We stopped for lunch in the No. 7 Boathouse ...
Image
... but when the bar opened ...

Later on we were lucky enough to see this tall ship gracefully making her way into the quay.
Image

Overall it was a great day, meeting and sharing experiences with fantastic people and having a good laugh ...
Image
... even at Mamma Meerkat (my SO - carolv).

Hope you like the photos,

Richard
