We took this series of pics of a Fork-tailed Drongo attacking a Martial Eagle in Kruger in May this year.

Drongos are quite cheeky. We have seen then attacking a tawny eagle.

They keep away from the business end, the claws.

This type of interaction might be seen quite often, but I have definite not seen many been photographed this well :clap:

Does anybody know an explanation for the behaviour of the Drongo?
Is he afraid the eagle could harm his nest :hmz:
I don´t believe a martial eagle is to impressed if a Drongo tries to mob him!
Anyway, a brave and interesting appearance :?

Yes, we also wondered what the reason for the attack was and I guess it could be that they just have a general dislike of big raptors because of their ability to destroy the young in a next.
Not sure if Drongos breed year round?
We did look around for a possible nest but could not find anything.
