Thank you Toktokkie
Now I sit here with those 'longing feelings'....I wish I was there :(
It has been many years since we were at Bontebok, also always caravanning  One of our all time favourites but we have not been back since they re opened after the revamp.
After your post, I think it will be sooner than later :D
At home...... dreaming of next trip to KTP

Hi Dreamer :) ,
The park is well worth a visit, and being so close to Cape Town it isn't a major trip when you need your batteries recharged!! We will definitely pay more regular visits :D. It was at least 12 years ago that we took a drive through the park prior to our visit in Feb and were really very pleasantly surprised
Give in to those longing feelings. :D

Hmmm. Wonder what "COLD" means to someone with Switzerland as their baseline :hmz: . Anyway, thanks for the thought. I didn't figure on swimming weather, but I'm wondering how cold and whether it is likely to be rainy.

Alan, it was not really supposed to be an answer; it was only to let you know that you are not alone  Sooner or later somebody is going to give you a serious answer.
Just for your knowledge, Lugano is south of the Alps and yesterday we had 32° celsius!

Hi Alan:

A link to weather / temps in the parks is given on the SANParks homepage. If you click on the "Today's Weather" link, it takes you to a map with some parks as icons (not Bontebok :( ), but all parks are included in the dropdown menu. For Bontebok, there is this info today — the upcoming week looks very nice!

Have a great trip!
RSA 2015
1-30 June Darling
30 June-8 July National Arts Festival, Grahamstown
8-15 July Mountain Zebra
16-22 July Cape Town

Thanks, Arks. I never noticed that link, but it is just what I need. Let's hope we get that kind of weather in two weeks!

Hey AlanInPhilly--- Quite possibly rainy in August. But very nice between cold fronts/.
Chilly could mean as low as 3 or 5 centigrade possibly. It really shouldnt head below zero even if there has been snow on the mountains.Wind chill could be a factor. Its not that high above sea level though.
River will definitely not be worth swimming in!
I wouldnt let the weather put you off.You could very easily have really nice days in the low 20s with bright sunshine for days on end.------

Hi AlanInPhilly,
We live in Cape Town, and at the moment are having stunning weather, Winter in the Cape can be beautiful with lovely warm days hovering around 20 dg C, but you could also have really dismal days with a lot of rain and really quite cold weather, around 3-5 dg C if there is snow on the mountains, otherwise around 10-15 dg C. Nothing that a bottle of good red wine can't cure! :D Hope the weather continues as it is now, and you will have a stunning time! :D

Hi AlanInPhilly,

We will be there at the same time. Look for the red Hilux with the yellow ribbon.

If it is stormy, you might have another 6 in your chalet
