The leopards were about 8km north of Satara, the people saw them a few days in a row. The sable was on the S36 on our way to Talamatie.

This lion was on the sweni road (S126) just after gate opening, they crosed in front of u and disapeard into the river. Also last year.

Lots of great moments here.

One moment my wife and I find particularly memorable is from our June 2008 trip. The 2 of us and my mother-in-law got up before sunrise, made coffee, then walked down to the river at Skukuza to watch and photograph the sunrise. We had our coffee, watched the sky start changing, aware of the sounds around us - baboons starting to run across the Selati Railway bridge - mist on the water lit by the early morning rays of the sun. Was quite fantastic - very peaceful!!

I'm loving all of these memories and videos and pictures!

I have a couple...

First cheetah and 4 cubs sighting last year June between Tshowane and LS in the rain!

Young male leopard stalking impalas near Satara in August 2007, nearly caught one but the impies spotted him first was still awesome.

Way back in 1997 a young hyena giving us the chase from behind the fence at Skukuza as kids, I think he was either playing or eyeing us as his dinner

Believe or not bumping into two thick tail bush babies in the ladies bathroom at Skukuza camp site having dinner on some grasshoppers at midnight

Satara is awesome!
Yesterday (14/06/09)
A pride of 10 on s100. Further down 2 mating leopards! Rhino eles buffs all common. Then 6 lions at sonop dam with about 50 elephant enjoying the water.
Then 4 lion cubs late afternoon on S90. That all in a day. Night drive sightings to follow in TR.
This morning we saw 2 huge male lions a few kms into S100. And then, a great sighting which will be
Revealed in TR!
Still got 2 days here!!

My memory/sighting is positively pathetic compared to the amazing sightings on this thread! But to me it was the most amazing thing and I'll never forget it.

Last year in July I went with my mother and brother to KNP for the first time. My mother was always trying to get me to go because she said she just knew I would love it. In my opinion I figured I'd seen hundreds of elephant, lions, cheetah etc on tv and didnt get the big deal.
Anyway, this super cheap deal came up so I thought I'd go along. We would be staying outside of Numbi and would only have 3 full days to explore the park.

On the first day we were on our way to Numbi gate and I was trying to keep my excitement down because I'd heard how big the park was and honestly wasn't sure if we'd see any animals at all- just drive around for 3 days looking at bush and no animals.
My mother and brother were talking about what they thought we'd see first and about all the different animals they thought we'd see- while I was just being all rational and telling them not to get excited, we'll be lucky if we see anything.

As soon as we entered Numbi gate we saw a mother giraffe with a baby. I couldnt believe it, it was so close to our car that if my arms weren't so short I could have touched it!!! It completely blew my mind to see a real giraffe up close (I actually felt like I was going to cry). All these years I'd never thought Id enjoy a safari holiday because the African animals were boring- how could I have been so wrong!! I could have stayed there all day, but my brother was driving and has the patience of a 2yr old!!

In just 3 days we saw lion up close, rhino VERY close to the car, buff, ellies of course. lots of different buck, fish eagle, and so much more..

But that first wild animal, the mother giraffe and her baby, will stay with me forever. Tv just doesnt do them justice!!

As soon as we got back I started planning our next trip (just my mother and I- my brothers patience has now run out)- October 2009 for 13 days staying in the park!! I cannot wait!

One of my all time memories was travelling back from botswana at dawn and having to slam on brakes to avoid hitting an aardvark, it just stood in front of the car and stared at me. I couldnt believe how big the thing was, always thought they were much smaller in my mind

Another of my memorable times , taken from on top of a water reservoir east of Ngotso in Dec 2005 . He was drinking from the overflow , we managed to approach and climb up unseen watching him with his back a metre below us , after a while he must have heard us and shook his head sending up a shower of mud .
