We saw this steenbokkie with his one ear stuck, we watched him for a while and he was shaking his head to get his ear unstuck but to no avail. He disappeared into the bush.

I have heard somewhere that a steenbok covers his dung, almost like a cat

I agree, Henk. According to Peter Apps, in Wild Ways:

Peter Apps wrote:
Near their territory boundaries they defecate and urinate in middens but elsewhere they have the unusual habit of digging a hole with their forefeet and burying their excrement.

Why is it that there is such a difference in behaviour between steenbokkies in Kruger and KTP?
In Kruger you often only see a brown flash, In KTP you're mostly ignored, and you can park almost next to them?

One of my favourite buck species. Caught in the Roodewal area in March 2 years ago.

Our Aug 09 trip gave us a photo opportunity on this Steenbokkie on the H7. My son took the pic. I can't compete with my P&S :D

Definitely! Shorter neck, chunky body, less white showing, grizzled coat.
