Do you know what a wonderful cheap remedy is for mozzie bites - apply a dab of everyday toothpaste as soon as you discover you've been bitten and before you start scratching. Keep this up a few times a day and within a day or two the bite and itch will have disappeared. Not sure if it would work on spider bites!

What I meant was that in my opinion an allergy won't leave a hole on each leg, surrounded by dead flesh... as in my case. I have to live with the scars for the rest of my life...

OWN, unless you can surgically correct this?

Interesting, Jozigirl, about the toothpaste remedy for mozzie bites. Would you suggest Colgate or Sensodyne?
Seriously, though, I have no idea what other types of bites this would work for. I'd imagine that any surface irritation due to the bite itself would get some relief from this method. However, it wouldn't be able to neutralise poisons, hence most probably would do nothing to help with dangerous spider bites.

It works better with the non-sensitive type toothpastes. I didn't get as much relief from my Mentadent S and I did from Aquafresh - seriously! :wink

True story - use any roll-on mosquito repellent for a mosquito bite - instant relief and all traces gone within the hour. It really works! (Sorry, but I have no home remedy for spider bites and ex-sisters-in-laws).

A SPIDER! A spider bit me on both my lower legs... (the spider left the legs behind, though ). My legs were bitten and are scarred (blemised) for life. So their is no unbitten, unblemished leg to tug, OWN. True story.

So, would you settle for a tug of a blemished, bitten leg?

Clicker that sounds intrigueing. I suppose we are learning more and more about the effect of various air waves, that there is something worth looking at. Ultra sound waves made a big difference to one of my running injuries.

True story on mozzie bites..

I arrived home one day to a house smelling like a perfume factory... no doubt about it, it was my very expensive perfume, given as a gift, that was permuating every corner and crevice of my house.

This stuff was so expensive that I had considered putting it in a safe.

I went through to the bathroom, the source of the smell, to find my youngest daughter pouring it over her legs.

She looks up innocently and says, "our teacher says eau de colonge works for itchy bites, so I decided to use this"

Well, that was the quickest drainage of liquid assets that I have ever experienced.

If you google insect bite clickers you will get more options. They are on sale in many places here in the UK, including Tesco.

I'm not exactly sure how the spark stops the itching and swelling, but it does work. And no, it doesn't hurt
