This is beter news than a fuel price decrease.

I still use my 1980 hardcover "Birds of the Kruger Park" by Newman exclusevly when in the Kruger , kept up to date with notes etc.

It is so much easier having a specialized bird book for the park -
- you only have +-400 definate options to browse rather than 900 for the whole of South Africa .
- distribution maps are more specific and detailed
- for rare birds they mention specific locations spotted
- species accounts also give more detail specific to KNP
- also migration arrivals and departures
- the Eureka factor (you are positive that you have the correct ID)
- you get to know each page (almost)

Prime origins "best birding in kruger" is also very good for learning your "jiz" but it is still not a field guide .

This Roberts will be a winner 'cos it really fills a need .
I hope kalahari.net gets it in to spend wildcard rewards on .

This looks great. However I think I will be just too late to get hold of one. We leave the first week in Jan. Lets hope the KNP shops have it in before we go.

Got our copy just before Christmas, and its already had its first trip. Lovely book, about the only reference we used in the park.
