I still use my 1980 hardcover "Birds of the Kruger Park" by Newman exclusevly when in the Kruger , kept up to date with notes etc.
It is so much easier having a specialized bird book for the park - - you only have +-400 definate options to browse rather than 900 for the whole of South Africa . - distribution maps are more specific and detailed - for rare birds they mention specific locations spotted - species accounts also give more detail specific to KNP - also migration arrivals and departures - the Eureka factor (you are positive that you have the correct ID) - you get to know each page (almost)
Prime origins "best birding in kruger" is also very good for learning your "jiz" but it is still not a field guide .
This Roberts will be a winner 'cos it really fills a need . I hope kalahari.net gets it in to spend wildcard rewards on .
