No, it's not strange. They spends night resting in the open terrain, except one feeding bout starting before midnight and lasting until 3 or 4 AM. but highly active on moonlight nights during rut.

 Many animals which are usually thought to be diurnal, are active at night. This include many antelope species.

The young ones are kept together in the middle flanked by the large females on the outside. This is for protection from predator attacks, which frequently occur at water holes.

It is common to find Wildebeest with Impala and Zebra. Why?

Because they eat the grasses at different heights, some eat the top, some eat the bottom :?
Also being together confuses the predators?

It is incidental association between animals who share the same habitat, and do not directly compete for resources such as food and mating opportunity, with the added advantage of having more eyes to look out for potential danger.

Yes, Impala and Zebra feed on the upper, leafy shoots of grass while the Wildebeest feed on the shorter shoots..... and everything Imberbe said. :D

Question1
Wildebeest are equipped to take bites of short green grass.
What kind of soil is most suited for this kind of grass

Question2
When are they most active?
Day?
Night?
Both?
