There used to be a general understanding for quizzes of waiting 24 hours before posting the correct answer

Lately we have seen a general understanding to leave it up to the quiz master how a quiz is run. I must say participation has risen substancially since then.

The revolving quizzes are a huge success. If someone wants to wait 24 hours, that's fine. If a quiz master or group of people prefer a more dynamic approach, that is equally fine.

Can we just live and let live a little here?

Just a gentle reminder here forumites - there are no rules governing how long quizzes should be left before answers are given. <...>

Yes! Please! Thank you! :D :P  :?

Speaking for myself (and still desperately short of time): I might even consider participating again...

Just my two cents worth ... mostly the quizzes are so dynamic that one answers immediately hoping for instant gratification only to have to wait – or not. Perhaps the solution here is for the quiz master to decide and stipulate “prompt” vs “courtesy”?

A while ago the Quizzes were basically dead and buried, with the CC type taking over. Then we started the revolving type of quiz (first being Imberbe #11) and more people joined. Now we have a lively bunch and the quizzes has become a dynamic thread! (I just had a count - plus minus 22 "active" quizzes at the moment). This makes me happy!!!!

I could understand some peoples frustrations when there were only two or three quizzes active at a time and they wanted to partake just to find that all the answer had already been given. But the situation has changed considerably!

It is simply impractical to refrain from acknowledging a correct answer just because a period of time has not yet lapsed. Very often other people will just keep quiet when they see that the correct answer has been given.

I have the unhappy habit of not going to sleep when the rest of SA does. I can't tell you how many quizzes there are to answer in the middle of our (S.A.) nights!

The biggest problem at this stage is that there are so many quizzes, that it is getting hard to keep up! I often just brows the quizzes without even answering. Just because it is simply so interesting, and I enjoy reading all your answers!

We all have to accept that it has become virtually impossible to partake in every question. Often you skip a question - even in a favourite thread - and go on to the next.

I also agree that much of the responsibility should be left to the quiz master. Let him / her lay down the rules and manage the specific thread.

Maybe we should have an indication in the heading of each thread whether it is a revolving (RV) or a quiz-master specific (QM) thread. This will prevent people from getting confused.

I say ... let it rip! Let the quizzes be dynamic!

The other side of the coin is that, beside the time constraints, some contributors who are slower off the mark, or less "geared up", may become disillusioned about answering quizzes.

I agree with the 24hr period for replies becoming a forum rule! :P

(Looks like some serious locking going on... )
