Thanks RP,

If I remember correctly and have them in the right order, :roll: I think,
pic 1. was seen was on the H5 between Letaba and Olifants and the other one was where one usually sees Reedbuck, the H10.
We did initially think they might be the 2 different varieties. :?

Only place I am sure that I have seen them - along the reed beds and the Nshawu waterholes on the S50.

In this little video, you see the Southern or Common Reedbuck that I filmed near Lower Sabie on the H10 at the Muntshe waterhole. :wink:

Firstly I saw these two just after we entered Phabeni gate last week Sunday.

Then yesterday I saw these two close to Lower Sabie.

I'm a bit confused with all the smaller antelopes, but maybe I will know a bit more if someone can help me with these. :lol:

I saw this one with 2 females in the reedbeds along the S50

I used to see reedbuck in Kruger regularly until about 10 years ago (and, yes, often in the Muntshe area). Haven't seen another one since. I have also noticed that in the Kruger publications, their numbers are not indicated (e.g. Find It), while almost every other herbivores is! Is this just an oversight, do you think, or have their numbers dropped drastically?

Our last sighting of a Reedbuck was also at Nshawu 5 possibly the same as on the photograph.

One of the three reedbucks I spotted in KNP in Dec. 2008. However, I have only one photo what is worth to show you.

We were at Pretoriuskop in August of this year and we saw reedbuck on two occasions. I have been going to Kruger for many years and this was the first time that I saw reedbuck. I cant imagine that there are many of them in the park.

Good sighting Crested Barbet and also a good photograph.
During my research for my history postings I have recently been in contact with Scientistsin the KNP and they have confirmed that there aren't many and that they are very susceptable to predation.
I have over 42 years only sighted 2, both in the reedbeds of Shawu - most probably the same one on different occasions.
I participate because I care - CUSTOS NATURAE
