Wait until all the trees start flowering and fruiting, then I expect the list to increase. At the moment most of my trees are quite small. I am planning an aloe section - I have quite a selection in the nursery - will start this weekend - when in flower they should attract a few sunbirds!

I am going there to my 'extended garden' in Jan and will try to see if it exists after all

I agree Shame on you Deefstes. However I will allow for a little jealousy here.

Until middle of last year I could have shown you a pair near where I live now. However too many people found out about them and someone obviously got too intrusive and they moved. Myself and one of my colleagues are going on recce as soon as we get a break to try to locate them again. We will hold the knowledge close if we do.

Thanks I have seen Pel's before (at that amazing spot known as Pafuri thanks to the help of that amazing guy known as Frank) but I will admit that I am jealous to read that someone lives in a place where these things are common.

I have:
2 LBJ's who have given birth above consulting room. They are very active and very noisy.
1 white eye, unconfrmed but maybe enough to get me noticed.
8 Grey Louries who live in a tree opposite my garden, but let themselves be known
uncountable bully doves, (how could anyone think of this as a symbol of peace) they must have been mad.
about 8 masked weavers,
a bird that wakes me up each morning saying, "whe, whe whe u"

I think this is very cruel. I don't know the bird, its like an alcoholic smelling a wift of wine.

Hmmm, this is a tough challenge.

- At what time does it typically wake you up?
- Where do you live?
- Have you heard it at other times?
- What other calls could you compare it to?

Have you considered White-faced Scops-Owl?

For about the last five years I have been in Kruger during the breeding period.

I stayed in a fairly wooded area in Kruger. Wooded in that there was a river close by. It was between Skukuza and Tshokwane.

My house is in an area between Pretoria and J'burg. I have lots of trees. I am woken every morning before sunset. My trees are alive with birds. This bird, however, is a bird that says, "Kruger".

I must say, close to sunset, I hear it aswell.

Is there any way you could record the call and send us a sound clip?
