hello fellow forumites

i will be spending 2 nights in P'kop...in a HUT(ES2)...

would like feedback on the following please...


*has anybody stayed in this particular hut?
*does the Hut have full bedding?
*there are no electrical plugs, how would one recommend i charge my batteries?
*can i request for a fridge upon arrival?
* how far are the communal ablutions from the Hut?
and...
*do they offer Night drives?

Gunner, I just stayed at P'kop, but in an EB2 hut not an ES2 one. They do offer night drives.

The area around P'kop has been extensively burnt by the fires started by the arsonist. See the article on the home page and the thread on veld and bush fires for more info about the fire. Despite this, there seem to be good sightings in that area. Have a look at Wild@Heart's trip report, and we saw sable and lion on the Voortrekker Road.

i'll be going to Kruger on the 7th of September, so hopefully by then the burnt grass would have turned into lush green grass

Do you perhaps know whats the difference between the EB2 & ES2 huts?

The ES2 huts do not have a fridge, while the EB2's have fridges.

Have a look at this page, the photos on it are clickable to larger versions.

I would consider Numbi Gate, Gunner, as there seem to have been a lot of great Cheetah sightings close to the gate lately.
The area around there has been recently burnt and consequently is a lot more open resulting in some pretty interesting sights, Serval for example.

I will be staying in PK on Fri the 14th of September. This is of coarse a rather significant day in 2007. I know there will be people who will be disgusted in me asking this, but hey some things just can't be helped. Are there any facilities in PK for watching the WC Rugby match between SA and Eng ?

I am sure in the restaurant they will air the show. Otherwise, walk around the camp and find the chalet's that have DSTV and make buddies with the peeps in there!

Test match of 26 May 2007, SA v England, Pretoriuskop...



Camp staff rigged up the telly on the lawn outside the shop. Not sure if they will repeat, seeing as though the match on 14/9 is at 21h00. Take a radio just in case.

I will be in LS the weekend after that, which includes the SA v Tonga game, so I will catch a repeat at home, but listen to it on the wireless (14h00 game though).

It's a good omen though... last time I was in the KNP during Rugby World Cup, we won the darn thing!!!

We will be spending some time in one of the three bed huts (EB3) at PKop at the beginning of October. The last time we stayed there (in a 2 bed hut) was in October 1999. My question is do these huts have a braai? I don't recall if they do.
