sorry everyone. had internet issues this morn :D

a. Id this bird
Diederik cuckoo
b. What is the main diet
Mainly catterpillers and other insects
c. The breeding behaviour of this bird is unusual. Describe it.
It lays its eggs in the nests of other bird species. These
hosts then incubate the eggs and raise the young.
d. What is the difference in colour of the eyes of the male
and female?

The male has red eyes, whereas the female has browner
eyes

Great job to all.

heres the next birdie :D

Image
a. Id this bird
b. Describe the typical habitat of this bird
c. To what predators does this bird lose many of its
eggs and chicks to?
d. Does this bird catch its prey on the wing or on the
ground?
:D

Good job Candys style. You obviously know your birds really well :D

a. Id this bird
Marico flycatcher
b. Describe the typical habitat of this bird
Acacia savannah or thornveld scrub
c. To what predators does this bird lose many of its
eggs and chicks to?

Genet and snakes
d. Does this bird catch its prey on the wing or on
the ground?

It perches on the outer branches of small trees,
about 2m above the ground, waiting for an insect to
come into view, then swiftly flies down to the ground
to catch its prey, killing and eating it there.

Next.......
Image
a. Identify this bird
b. For what other bird is this one often mistaken?
c. Do both the male and female incubate the eggs and
feed the nestlings?
d. What makes up the diet of this bird?

:D

Hey sorry about the late reply.. Got exams now at school to study for.. Tough one!! I'm not to good with my sundirds..
Im in a toss up between the lesser doublcollarded and miomba doublecollarded.. But here I go,
a) Lesser doublecollarded sunbird (greyer cheast)
b) Miomba doublecollarded sunbird
c) Habitat: Evergreen forest and bush, Eucaluptus plantations, gardens.
Diet: Nectar of indigenous and exotic flowers, juice of overripe figs, insects, spiders.
d) Breeding season April - November. Incubation by female only but chick fed by both.
Behaviour: flight quick and erratic, forages in forest canopy or low down in bush. Solitary, in pairs or a group of 5-6.
e) Oval of grass, lichen, twigs and rootlets, bound with spider web, lined with wool, plant down and feathers. Side-top entrance with or without porch. Built by female??

I'm probly wrong on this one..
