Iv been there for a motobike ride 8) and it is a very nice place, it is very simular to the West Coast NP.
I went up the lighthouse and looked over the Atlantic and the Indian ocean, it only cost's a few rands to get up top.

Thanks for the link to the video, Gwen!! I was there years ago (1984!!) and it is a wildly beautiful place. The shipwreck is quite accessible. I love shipwrecks!! And it must be great to climb the lighthouse, which wasn't open then. Makes me want to visit again to see how it has changed and how it hasn't.

Welcome Pavlik88! :yaya:

Aghulas is always good for spotting the Southern Right Whales. Also keep an eye out for the elusive Cape Grysbok and the more common Cape Francolin. If you are into birding this should be real fun. With species such as...
Quote:
Information on birding in the Agulhas region needs to be consolidated. Damara Tern breeds at De Mond Nature Reserve and can be seen along the coast. Stanley’s Bustard, Blue Crane and Secretarybird are some of the larger, more visible species present, while Southern Tchagra, Large-billed (Thick-billed), Agulhas Clapper and Agulhas Long-billed Lark, Karoo Scrub Robin and Cape Bunting are common amongst the smaller species.

Once you reach the park entrance the person at the gate will hand you a brochure with all the info and a map of the park. Enjoy your trip and hopefully can you post a trip report for us please?

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I am sure a moderator will redirect me to the appropriate place. Does anyone know anything about Ryspunt? It was apparently a little village near Agulas that was predominatly inhabited by fishermen. The houses were all built out of shipwrecks and it was very picturesque. When Armscor took over the area for their missile site everyone was relocated and no access allowed. I can find no other info about it, but it seems to have been close to the park. Does anyone know anything? :cam:

Has anyone been to Agulhas recently? We don't seem to have a trip report for Agulhas yet.

I'd love to read more about this park. 8)

You are correct about Ryspunt being a fishermen's village years ago. And it forms part of the Overberg "Toetsterrein" nowadays, but it is not that close to the park. Ryspunt is between Arniston (Waenhuiskrans) and De Hoop Nature Reserve.

I see Sanparks are busy developing a new restcamp here. There are 4 2 bedroom units and 4 1 bedroom units. All the units have full seaview and are surrounded by fynbos. This camp will definitly be a big hit.
