Can anyone help me out here. Living in JHB the difference in altitude to Kruger is quite big. I was told that plants battle with big altitude changes and that if you buy trees at Lake Panic Nursery they might not survive the trip home.
Is this true and if so is there a way of transporting them so as to ensure they make the trip home?

We bought an Impala Lily at Letaba nursery last October and not only it survived the trip back home in Pretoria, it's doing very well indeed.

Have bought many plants over the years and transported back to JHB with absolutely no problems. All plants bought from nursery are excellent specimens.

Will be in Kruger in just over a month and plan to fill the Landy with a few nice trees.

I have had no hassles either Snoobab .
My best kei apple specimen is 1 that I got from Skukuza nursery , its far bigger than the ones I got locally and the same initial size .
Same goes for my fever tree , in fact its the only 1 that survived the cold funnily enough .

Just watch that they dont get a lot of sun on them through the vehicle windows in the hot Feb heat , this might stress them .
I also wonder about the effects of the dry aircon air on the plants .

I suppose people might buy frost sensitive species , and then they die so they blame the nursery .
All the plants are marked hardy or not , gauteng needs semi hardy for planting in a protected spot or hardy for planting in open lawn .

I went to Skukuza Nursery in Sept last year and bought a WHOLE back seat of plants including Impala Lily (a big one) a Knob Thorn Acacia and 4 White Berry bushes and 4 Puzzle bushes for my birds. They travelled in full sun all the way back (2 days to PE and the are thriving in this frost free environment)
