What species of Aloe are found in Kruger?
And where are the best places to see them?

Thanks

There are more than I could mention as far as species go .

There are lots in all the camp gardens .

Most hillsides have a few species also , there are some nice ones around olifants camp .
The tar road from tshokwane to lower sabie has a few near the nkumbe lookout , and also along muntshe mountain .

Other than that , they are all over the show , the best time to see them is winter when they are flowering.
The grassland species are often overlooked , as they are covered by the grass , and you often only see there flowers .

Hi,

Thanks for that.

I have seen Aloe chabaudii in the Skakuza area, not far from the Sabi.

Also seen Aloe marlothii on the ridge (rhs of road a few km from Olifants)on the tar road from Olifants to Letaba.

And as you say, the camps have some good plantings too.
Last time I was in Kruger in August, the mousebirds were feasting on the honey from the Aloe vryheidensis (not 100% about species) in Olifants.

Thanks
Yoda

DQ,

Your first pic is a Krantz Aloe, not sure what your second one is.

DQ, I think the second one is the Aloe chabaudii, but JB would most likely be the one to confirm that
