Does anyone know what SANPark's policy is towards pictures published on the forum/public sightings etc.? Do I retain copyright of an image or does SANParks now become the new owner?

I have read and studied the section on Filming/Photography in the parks but copyright of film/photographs is nowhere mentioned.

(Why I ask is that as a rule I do not splash "Copyright To Me" all over my pictures.)
why walk if you can run?...why run if you can fly...?

As far as I understand it, you give them permission to use the image on the SANParks gallery page. They dont expressly say that they retain the rights to use the image is they see fit. I don't copyright my stuff either generally but probably should do it.

You don't have to copyright it, you (the artist that made it) are the sole owner unless you have sold all the rights on it.
The photo's that are in the galleries or on the forum are submitted by you, so you have given SANParks the right to use them for that purpose, and only that one.
If they want to use them in a book(let) or any other publication they have to obtain the artists permission.

Thanks for the response you guys (&girls  )

A previous posting of mine:
gallery/kruger_ps/Brown_headed_Parrot

When one moves the mouse over the picture, the screentip indicates the photographer(or one who submitted it) as well as the description. Thats fine...but when one right-clicks to obtain the picture properties etc. Voila!! - it says: Copyright 2005 - SANParks :o

Being positive as I am, I hope this is the way SANParks protect the picture from being copied/downloaded by any viewer, thus protecting MY right 8)

I honestly believe that is their way of protecting all the material on the site, not to "take ownership".

Misuse can take place through intent and through a lack of knowledge, say a 10 year old is doing a school project on birds and stumble upon this pic not knowing.
To change ones life start immideately. Do it flamboyantly. No exceptions.
