White Lion - Schofield

Unread postby yoda » Fri Oct 11, 2013 9:55 am

I have just finished reading this book which I really enjoyed:

White Lion - Back to the Wild
Andrew Schofield
ISBN: 0620514787

A great story of how he established a Big 5 game farm in the Karoo.
One of his aims was to re-introduce white lions back into the wild.

An easy read and well worth reading.

Hi yoda,

I am not sure whether this is off topic and apologies if it is.
I have heard about the Big 5 game farm in the Karoo bragging that they have the only white lions still living in the wild. But I just don't buy that.

You cannot re-introduce a specie to an area if they were never naturally found in that area. Any white lions outside the greater Timbavati area is not in there natural habitat and therefore I won't classify them as "wild"

It is like introducing bears into the Kruger.

I am sure the book is very interesting though and I will definitely read it.

Yup, that sounds like the same place.
Read the book and make your mind up there after.
