Nice Q, Phokojwe. I've seen not only videos of elephants raising themselves up on their hind feet, trunks fully extended to reach the highest branches, but also an elephant near Shingwedzi placing his weight on his hindquarters on a termite mound and doing the same. Having experienced this first hand, I have to contend that they may indeed be able to reach higher than the tallest giraffes. Let's go with True.

Congrats Philip1, WFG, OWN

Elephants are able to lift themselves on their hind legs to get to branches that are out of reach. OWN, I'm sure that must have been something to see in person :bcool:

True or False!

Unlike aardwolves, female brown hyenas do not mate with nomadic males, only with the dominant male member of their own clan.

Phokojwe, I saw that phenomenon many years ago, yet it was so surprising that I still remember the image as if it is happening right now.

The only pics I see of brown hyenas are of them alone, so I don't think they are clans? So I would say its false Philip? :hmz:

Unlike aardwolves, female brown hyenas do mate with nomadic males. Males in a clan do not usually mate with the clan females, as most of them are related to the females and this would cause inbreeding. Instead, females usually mate with nomadic males that wander between territories visiting receptive females.

Heksie, some info. :) Despite being solitary when foraging, brown hyenas usually live in extended family groups of four to six individuals, called clans.

Heksie so it is False.

Agree with OWN. The Red-billed Quelea perhaps? Eg. They flock in hundreds or even thousands, but i do not know if they can use the chorus technique. :?
