Barryels and I attended this talk this morning, and what a lovely, informative talk it was! A big thank you to all involved in the organisation of this talk, as well as the presenters.

Kendal, I think she was the organiser, came to introduce herself! What an awesome person! She even knew about our Meet with Crested Val and SO next Friday, and promised to ask her SO whether they could also attend! Lovely lady with a beautiful personality! She made us feel so welcome, although it was a Midrand Regional Honorary Rangers event, and I think Barry and I were the only "ordinary Forumites" present at this event.

One of the Honorary Rangers gave his presentation of the Gannets and Pelicans on the Malgas Island! Unfortunately we did not get his name, but it was very informative and interesting!

Then Ernst Retief presented his very informative talk about the Secretary Birds! Very interesting and we have enjoyed the whole event immensely! Lovely people, stunning event! I don't think we will ever want to miss any future events!

Pooh Bear (Kendal), if you read here, we are looking forward to see you next Friday evening at our Cocktail Party in honour of Crested Val and her SO! (I have already made your name tags!)

Thank you Hilda for attending our Tea and Talk and for highlighting it here. You are correct that it was a Midrand region initiative but the talks are not just for honorary rangers - they're open to the public and anyone can attend. The more the merrier! Our next one is on snakes on 17 August so hope to see you there (and any other forumites reading this!).

The chap that gave the talk on Malgas Island was Paul, one of our members. That's a project of our West Coast region but they open it up to other HRs from around the country and Paul went there with his family. Christmas with a difference!

BTW I heard an update about "Bling", the secretary bird that Ernst was telling us about. Apparently Bling is roaming around Botswana at the moment - will check the BLSA website later to get a proper update.

Lastly, thanks for making me  and so sorry we didn't make it to the meet. Keep me posted for the next one though!
K

I would love to follow Bling's route Pooh Bear! :D

The talk about Snakes sounds equally interesting, and we will definitely attend!

No problem about the meet! I think there will be another one in November! We are not organising that one, but I will let you know!

I attended a lecture at his training centre and he is really good. Loved it and learnt allot about snakes. I would recommend it to go and listen.
