Hi there

We have booked the last hutted accommodation available over December....EH5.
It seems that these are at the ends of the EH3's, so four of them to choose from: 49, 54, 55 & 60.
Which one should we request/is the best out of the lot? (I realise that we should not expect much here, but would like to make it as good as possible!)
Do we go with the one furthest away from the road? Anything else we need to know? (like: are the EH3's usually booked by tour operators?).

Thanks
Rooikat

Hi Rooikat

Most of the EH5's are the same and are very nice, my advise is to avoid number 55. It has very and I mean very big steps, its closest to the road to the staff village and pool, and due to the setup of the huts you dont really have a nice area to sit at a table outside your hut.

I have never seen tour operators book the EH3 huts.

Thanks spargish.

Another possibility: Accommodation in a FU4V has come up, but this is the cottage that states "building taking place near unit". I remember seeing this comment on the website a few months ago.

Can anyone please tell me:

1) If they are even still building next to this unit? (seems these are number 92 etc...?).

2) Does it impact on your privacy? Or anything else I need to know to consider this option.

Thanks
Rooikat

The FU4V's are really stunning accom. A year ago they were busy with renovations near the FU4V's, but that was a year ago!

FU4V's are at the bottom end of the camp, very close to the fence with a stunning view on the river. Nice braai patio too.

Hope the work has been completed - the Formites will let you know soon enough :D

Rooikat, Pay no attention to the building thing, I stayed there January 2012 and 12 April this year and all the work is finished. Bit expensive but really worth it. It has two separate bedrooms with a kitchen dining room area, two bathrooms. Beautiful braai area outside with built in bench area. And the view!!!!

Has anyone staid in safari tent no. 26 and has pics of the view / "balcony" ?

Apparently I have been allocated this unit. I requested about 10 other units which they could not help with so this must be one of the "least desirable ones", a bit disappointing but suppose they can't please everyone

I believe this is the tent that burnt down a while ago.

Thanks for some feedback.

I only saw your post now, NicoleCT.

Yes, you are right, the old no 26 burned down in October 2011.

The new tent is handicapped-suited. Unfortunately, the braai is not on the verandah anymore. It has been moved to a separate location beside the tent. But the tent is brand new and a lot bigger than the old ones. The kitchen is now inside the tent and the verandah is much bigger as well. The bathroom is at the back of the tent.

We stayed in no 27 but I was allowed to have a look inside by the cleaning lady and thus did not take pics of the interior.

Here are some pics of the tent

The view was good in 2011 and should be even better now since the verandah seems to be a bit closer to the fence.

Thank you so much Gatita.

(I saw this tent on one of my last trips and thought it was a honeymoon tent or 4 sleeper tent because it seemed so huge. Will have to carry a chair down to the braai in order to sit there to enjoy the fire.)

Morning Shikaari :D

You have booked a wonderful accom - FU4V's are really something ...

Your questions:
1. Unit numbers 94/93 (and I think 92/91 as well - not sure). Have a look at this units by going to the Board Topic, CAMPS and ROADS, click on Accommodation Photos, scroll down for Lower Sabie and you can see for yourself.

2. It is situated at the most eastern side of the camp, the last units next to the BD3U'S /BD2U's, VERY near to the fence with a spectacular view on the river.

3. Very spacious, big private patio, big kitchen area with two glass slide doors - leading to two double rooms en-suite.

4. For photos, please go to the above-mentioned Topic.

I am really  - you will have a wonderful stay

Leana

As someone beat me to booking the FU4V unit that was available  , we are investigating the FU5. From all the info on the forum, I still can not get my head around this unit!

Pictures on roaneric's accommodation thread show two doors (but is there a third?)...as in one door to kitchen, one to one bed and bathroom and another to another bed and bathroom.

What does the "no interleading doors means? (Each room seperate and you have to walk out onto the stoep to get to next bedroom?). Or are the bedrooms together and the bathrooms not interleading?

Anyone able to clear this for me, please?

Dear Rooikot

No interleading doors means that each bedroom is separate and you have to walk out onto the stoep to get to the next bedroom. Please note that each bedroom has its own bathroom inside.

Not quite the camp you will be visiting, but we spent this last new years eve at Letaba and it was just like any other night in Kruger.

At the end of the day, I suppose its up to the type of people also there at the time you are, as it would be with any other time in Kruger. You could either have well behaved neighbours, or you could have disrespectful hooligans.

Lower Sabie has in the past offered new years eve bush braai's, I think these were held at Mlondozi dam. Worth investigating perhaps.
