springbok? way too big for a hare...of course, the cat might not have killed this animal but simply come across its carcass...

by the way: don't be confused by the colour of the fur, this was shot after heavy rains

With those ballerina hoofs maybe a klipspringer.

Anyway Caracal will be able to bring down animals seized Goats, Sheeps but also Springbocks. Those Cats have enormorous Power. Therefor the Carcass you saw might be brought down by the caracal next to it.

No Steenbock no Klipspringer, they are to small. I guess this kill was done in Addo or Kruger. Maybe it could be a Bushbock. Check out the Fur it´s Red with White dots. And then look at the right hand side, you will be able to see the worns. Which are straight and pointet.

I would either go for Addo. But we should ask ICE. Where was this taken?

That looks like a Caracal with a nice Steenbok kill somewhere in the Kgalagadi. :hmz:

sorry, should have mentioned it: this was shot in KTP, otherwise I would not have posted it here in the arid section

My guess would be a young springbok.

I have seen a photo of a caracal that killed an adult Impala, so defintately possible. I cant remember where I saw it, but it was quite a few years ago.

We saw the same sighting. This was the Sunday. The kill was made on the Saturday. We first saw it about 100m from Houmoed the Saturday morning. I is a very young springbok. The prey were not yet swollen the Saturday.
