Hi All, just returned from a fairly brief visit to Swakopmund in Namibia aswell as a two night stay at the wonderful *EDIT*GAME LODGE and what a surprise to see how this thread was blessed with amazing photos and great comments and stories of our beloved KTP. If we did not travel by sedan vehicle this time, I would have (again) entered KTP via that lovely Auob river road from Stampriet in Namibia via Gochas, entering at Mata Mata! On our return journey, I was convinced I made a mistake NOT to have done just that!

@ gatita : Thank you for the photos of the lions and the nice story about the gas bottles and the lion playing with it! The punctured tyre was most probably the work of a playfull lion!!! Haha!

@ lion queen: Thank you for keeping this thread entertaining with those nice lion photos at 13th Borehole.

@ Jan van Wyk: Those baby lion photos are so stunning and they are so cute, maybe only a few weeks old. Not to mention your very nice brownie photos - thank you very much for posting! Also nice of you to spot that lion at the plastic watertank at Kousant.

@ Scouter: To photograph 5 lions at a waterhole is so special and so nice for us to enjoy, but those cheetahs at Houmoed! Wow!! Thanks!!

@ Oumie: Need I say welcome? Dikbaardskolk is kooking!!! Thank you for posting that young leopard at the toilet door - I will remember to look carefully in all directions!

@ Forever a Pilgrim: Welcome to this thread and thank you for also sharing .....and confessing to us about NOT taking your camera with you! BIG MISTAKE!

@ PRWIN: Your photos of the baby lions are just stunning! Thank you, they are truely so cute!

@ lion queen: You don't often see eight lions in one spot in KTP! Thank you for sharing and posting them! Well done everyone and a BIG thank you to all!

What a great thread! I decided to share something special too.

On the evening of 13 March 2013 I spent about 4 hours in Nossob hide which is overlooking the waterhole, and the sightings were great!

There were lots (30+) jackal around the entire evening and they were very quiet most of the time.

2 female lions, they literally fell down to drink, they were very thirsty and I never knew they could drink so much in one go! Afterwards they walked off towards the dunes.

6 spotted hyaenas

They hanged around for quite a while laying down waiting for something to unexpectedly come for a drink, and then walked towards the dune in the distance. It was when they reached the dune that they started to roar and Nossob became alive with torches storming to the hide. We had a good giggle when we looked around and saw all the lights moving towards the hide. Suddenly there were 3 rows of people in the hide, all trying to see the lions, but they were far off by then. Some people left again soon, but those who decided to hang around were rewarded as the male and female came back to have another drink at 2 more occasions.

After all the excitement and just before the lights went out another spotted hyaena.

WHAT A NIGHT! I certainly didn’t feel like going to bed then and would probably have stayed much longer if the power didn't go off for the night.
