Hi.

I have had 2 White Rhino sightings at this waterhole. I love the area there its so beautiful.

What have you seen there & how do you like it

I saw this two weeks ago at the waterhole, I also love that area

Oh pls where is this waterhole?
Where could I possibly find a list of waterholes in the park(s), if there is such a thing?

As you come out of Berg en Dal turn right onto the dust road and go for about 4 kms and there it is in the left just before the no entry road to Stolznek dam and Wolhuter Trail

Christel, I know that you're going to KNP soon, and you can buy a map book at the gate. This book has all the roads in the park and all the waterholes are shown on it — even those that are nowhere near a public road. There's also a link somewhere on the forum to an interactive map of KNP. If you do a forum search on "kruger map" perhaps you'll find it.

Thx to you both Peter & Arks, for useful informations. I'll look forward to buy all what is printed black on white to keep updated and informed. (That's what I love in doing so special trips like going to Kruger: Leaving with 1 or 2 good travel guide books which I read during flight times but, then coming back home with 2 tons of maps, books - I love it! I am keeping every pc of paper)

Yip, and some of my 20+ year old info is better than the newer stuff. I think my big, vintage 1984 KNP map is lots better than these map books (altho I suppose all the little bird and animal pix are fine for people who can't be bothered to buy a proper guide book ). Only thing is, this map is too old to have the newer bush camps and some few newer roads. But for good detail, the old maps can't be beat.

Also interesting is that all my individual receipts in my old KNP permit booklets have the number of the unit I had on the receipt. However, the 2006 receipts don't have the unit # anywhere, just the points earned

I've not seen a lion at the waterhole, but a pride on the way there.

Rhino seems to be a regular sight at this waterhole.

White rhinos at Matjulu waterhole in the evening is as close as you get to a guarantee in the park. Saw 6 six there on a night drive on our last trip and once saw 16 different rhinos in one drive between Berg-en-Dal and Matjulu.

There are even more Rhino past Matjulu Dam on the chain blocked road to the Stolznek Rangers House = highest density of White rhino in the Park

Matjulu dam is good for 747's. I have heard from guide Manzi.

Whole area is good for Rhino. Walked the Bushman's last year and stopped counting @ 45 white rhino whilst walking in my "substitutes" for forgetting my hiking boots in PTA.

What is 747? Sounds a bit like a calibre or a new BMW??
