We also got Dark Chanting Goshawk, Black-chested Snake Eagle and Amur Falcons.

On the way to the dam one drives past a beautiful koppie with a majestic Baobab

At the dam itself it was quiet with only a couple of Open-billed Storks searching for food in the shallows

They say a picture paints a thousand words and although we have taken literally hundreds of photo's here, it still cannot "paint" the experiences we had. The nearest I can get to describing them is "our National Geographic moments"! :D

Our first visit was in the afternoon - not the best of times - facing into the sun.

There was life everywhere - hundreds of zebra

Image

blue wildebeest, birds of all kinds and elephants - lots of elephants!

The elephants mainly used the natural waterhole as a playground

When they want to drink they used the cement dam - I love the way he uses the little step!
