Greeting to all

Can anyone tell me what is happening with the TEBA facility? I read in a Weg magazine that it was to be developed as a camp?

I'm not sure exactly what TEBA stands for but its the homestead of the manager of the company that used to recruit Mozambicans to work in the mines, plus, I think, the transit camp. SANParks bought the property last year as it is in the boundary of the national park. Also know as the Mockford residence, after the Manager, Harold, who lived there for many years.

Last I heard SANParks hadn't made a decision on what they were going to do with it but I know the previous owners have used it as a base for birding groups for a while. Seems to be a well kept secret.

TEBA is currently empty. The terrain was handed to SANParks but that did not include the furnishings.

SANParks is currently considering the exact future use, and as far as I am aware no decision has been made. But whatever the exact use will be, the historical nature of TEBA will be respected. It is a valuable piece of Kruger and national history.

Last year in Wild Magazine Sanparks had a feature story on it saying it was to be developed into a tourist accommodation facility.

Have been waiting to hear more.

That is correct threedogs. I also read the feature story. Has anyone got photo's or additional info regarding the history of TEBA?

Also read about it last year.

TEBA stands for The Employment Bureau of Africa.

You can read more about it here http://news.kruger2canyons.com/2012/01/ ... -past.html

Is there any news regarding the new camp that was going to open in the Crooks Corner area?

... mmm ... a sacred area , less people should allowed there ....
KNP is sacred. I am opposed to the modernisation of Kruger and from the depths of my soul long for the Kruger of yesteryear! 1000+km on foot in KNP incl 56 wild trails.200+ nights in the wildernessndloti-indigenous name for serval.

TEBA was flooded along with the whole border post. Not sure what the current status is. Shall try to find out.

I was privileged to have visited the old TEBA Pafuri camp on a few occasions - A truly special area of the Park. TEBA has now been closed and a new SANParks camp is planned for the area.
