Armoured ground cricket, Acanthoplus armiventris.

Got it right this time - I think
Saw this in Kgalagadi in May 2011 - The cuckoo was following it all around the camp (Mata Mata) cheeping and flapping its wings begging for food - saw it feeding the cuckoo and looking around rather desperately it seemd to us :shock: for what else there was to feed this huge baby :roll: - poor old starling was looking very ragged - A first time sighting for us :thumbs_up:

This was near Shingwedzi, two days after the flood. Of course I do enjoy seeing the big five etc., but "special sightings" like this really make my day.

I saw 2 adults on the S28 this past December.

Conditions weren't great (early in the morning and it was cloudy) and the photo was very blurred :cam:
