I tried to make an online reservation for April 2014. I tried it in the afternoon and this evening. Four times the transaction was declined (and hopefully my credit card will not be charged four times). No reason was given. Is it not possible to make a reservation on Sunday? Or could the reason be that I have another pasport number than the one mentioned in my profile? I am sure this was not a problem in other years.

Hi can anyone help me. We have booked our Kruger trip for October :dance: And didn't
seem to encounter any problems :thumbs_up: .. But we had to cancel a couple of nights and I
see they have added a credit to our reservation ... But as we have paid in full how do we go about
getting our refund. :hmz:

I had sent an e-mail to Sanparks yesterday and today I received the reply: "For online bookings we open nine months in advance". Now I am confused. I always thought it was 10/11 months in advance as stated on the website today: "This facility caters for the period from 11 June 2013 to 30 April 2014. "

The e-mail I received was from Dep. Tourism and Marketing Development.

Yes I am also confused. My understanding was the same as you. :? Which means I am going to have to wait even longer to book my May dates for next year :wall: Was counting on that to boost my low moral and being homesick :x

Shushin, I think the lady from Dep. Tourism and Marketing Development misinformed me. I see this at the page for online booking now:

Dear clients,

Please note that we are currently experiencing technical problems with Master card and recommend that you do not attempt to use it for payment. Please use a different type of credit card or try again tomorrow. We apologise for the inconvenience.

I hope it is a technical problem and that I don't have to worry about my card details.

Apologies for the confusion caused by the person who replied to you... Bookings are allowed for 11 months in advance.

With regard to the failures in credit card transactions, we are waiting for FNB to inform us about the reasons for these declines.

Hi dellac,

Please email reservations@sanparks.org and provide the details around the bookings. The extra money is probably put on your client code as credit on hold, which is safe.

While FNB may be able to give you information, my MasterCard is with Standard Bank so maybe that is the direction to go

Online bookings are only 10 months in advance. All other booking methods are 11 months.

Your credit has been placed "on hold" but is safe in your account. To redeem that, please email reservations@sanparks.org.

(In the future we will make your credit available for redemption via the online booking system. We are working on it. Please bear with us...)

I wanted to change an online booking, and couldn't find anything directly related on the forums about how to do it, so thought I would add my experience today in case it helps anyone in future.

We were booked into Skukuza in a bungalow the weekend before Christmas (online booking, so already paid in full), but I noticed that now a Family Cottage had become available in Berg-en-Dal, so wanted to change. I could see from the forums that I couldn't apply the existing payment made for Skukuza towards the Berg-en-Dal booking using the online system, only by phone or email.

I called the reservations number (I'm in Australia), and the lovely Sharon took the details, changed the reservation (I did have to pay via card immediately as the original booking was online so I guess the same rules apply - and I was upgrading to a more expensive option), and confirmed the payment. The entire call took 3 minutes and 42 seconds, and I received my new confirmation letter 5 minutes later by email. Also, the online reservation system shows the updated reservation as well.

Very efficient, easy process, and only a very short international call needed. Of course, it might have helped that I called at 7:40am Pretoria time, as I guess it might be quieter then. Great service. :clap:

Did the amount paid for Skukuza get deducted from amount owing on Berg en Dal cottage?
In other words, did you only have to pay the difference?

Hi - yes, I only paid the difference between the already paid reservation and the new accommodation. And no modifications fees. :D
