Moving along on this long day.
Here's evidence of bonkers. See and hear this bird just about every day, and yet in KNP, somehow it seems different.

Another B, but we won't mention that here on this Family forum.

Here's one for Trrp-Trrrrr. At last I sighed!

By now I'm heading back to LS. N'watimhiri Causeway afforded some delightful opportunities.

Watching and practicing some photograpy. Deliberate slow Shutter speed to try and give a sense of hovering.

Even slower

And he just like posing after such a show-off exercise.

Other beauties too

Doubt if any bird will risk it with this fellow-looks positively poisonous.

Sunset Dam, a bit like Lake Panic, always some activity going on there, and if you are lucky, you get a lot of activity, which I got as I returned to LS. Wonderful place to just chill, even better if you have a meal there in your car. Or just coffee. And now there was no baboon troop to fear.

There were some elephants.

A stunningly beautiful young Monitor Lizard.

It then starts heading directly for my car  , and I had to start the engine to alert it to my presence. It got the message and moved off. I like seeing retiles in the park, so I was glad for that sighting.

Sandpiper again.

Look how small the impalas are compared to elephants

Still at Sunset Dam-and enjoyed watching a pair of Balck winged stilts. Very graceful unhurried bird.

And satisfied with Sunset Dam, it was time to move on, and head towards Molondozi dam. Some familiar stuff along the way

Molondozi Dam is alway a wonderful place though it can be quite crowded, which it was today. I don't like crowds much, and on a day like this I will usually take a few shots of things that are of interest, and move on. There was a lot of interesting sightings though    .

The closest one (the others were moving off alread) was quite spectacular.

So onto Muntshe Loop, but very little to see here, quite frustrating actually, the only sighting being that of a pair of Secretary birds. But I faile to capitalise on this one

Image

and vulture
Image

And a suspect up ahead
Image

And the decision is to make a quick excursion to Nkumbe. Along the way some Ellies finding some shade in the very hot sun
Image

Image

And I was totally fascinated with this cloud pouring its precious load onto some isolated spot in KNP. I'm funny that way

Lunch and a short break at LS, and to enjoy the aircon, come 16:00 and it was off for an afternoon drive. A short excursion to Sunset Dam
Another Ellie, this one giving himself a bit of a shower
Image

And that photogenic bird
Image

I'm going south for the afternoon drive, and a Giraffe posed
Image

And then the first of a few rhino sightings
Image

Image

Someone was having a late afternoon snack.

Lets get in another dose before I have to go and do some work until tonight.
Another of those beauties. I never tire of seeing one of these
Image

Image

And another of those nerve wracking occasions-this small herd came directly in the road- I reversed for ... at least half a kilometer, only to discover it was wasted energy as they were intent on getting to a small waterhole on the side of the road.
Image

Besides "chasing" me off the road, they also evicted teh Egyptian Geese that were there
Image

And then suddenly, lots of Rhino     But these days its also with a twinge of a different kind of emotion, as you can't help but think and feel for these-will they be next?
Image

Image

This one had an injection of testosterone
Image

A bee eater was busy with the last bit of its meal
