Received the same Sanparks email yesterday.
Called the Pretoria office and was advised to change to other camps even though my dates are not until November 13!
Now have an extra night at Punda and an extra night at Mopani instead of the two at Shingwedzi.
Will keep checking to see if it reopens and will try and revert back if it does as I would love to stay there.
The booking is part of my two week north to south adventure........

I also received a mail yesterday informing me that the 3 nights in Shing for September that I had booked weren't going to happen. I phoned Muckleneuk and Ricardo managed to get us the 3 nights in Tamboti. So excited :)

We too had the same email yesterday for dates in October, only to get another mail today saying that reservations after July may not be affected, but they will know more at the end of February.

After the first email we rebooked. Following receipt of today's email we have asked reservations whether we will get the chance to go back to Shingwedzi if the camp is in use.

We would much prefer to be at Shingwedzi as it is more suitable for covering the northern quarter.

Great news after getting in touch with Joep Stevens, he emailed me back more or less straight away to say that our matter was being looked at and that we would receive contact from one of the offices soon.
The next morning we had an email saying that they had rearranged our 2 nights at Shingwedzi to 2 nights at Letaba , this was our next camp to stay at so we are there now 4 nights!! Happy Days :D

We cannot tell you how grateful and thankful we are to all the staff at Kruger who are at immense pressure at the moment because of the devastation caused.

thank you all for your help and thank you again to the wonderful staff in KNP, we truely are blessed, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone effected by this tragic event

debs x

Joep is a man who can.....and does regularly.

Like many other SANP people.

Letaba is a great camp. There are some lovely river drives. Hope the Mantambeni hide roads are ok when you go. It is a great hide. Also one can sit at or near the reastaurant with a pair of binos and look for and find creatures great and small, and near and far.

I must say we do love Letaba, so we are more than happy to be staying 4 nights there, we've had some great sightings around Letaba and their restaurant is one of our favourites, it'll be nice to kick back and relax for 4 nights instead of the 2 and have a really good look around!!

Did you pick up the good news in Lesego's latest bulletin:

Lesego wrote:
Camps Closed:

Shingwedzi - Severely flooded - Camp and Day Visitors area out of bounds for public. Camping and B-circle units (EH3, BD2, BD2Z & BG2) to be reopened by 15 June 2013 and remainder of camp possibly open by 30 September 2013.

That is a tremendous effort by everyone involved.
