Is this a Sabota Lark please?

Where was it seen, Crested Val?

From this angle I can't see any diagnostic white eyebrow.. Will wait to hear where it was seen before making a call.

It was seen 2 days ago at Shikumbu Koppie near Phalaborwa Gate Kruger.

I found a great website that I go to if I suspect it's bird A but the drawing in the book is unclear. This gentleman has photo's of almost all SA birds on his site and I find it easier to ID from photo's.

This one was also taken near Phala Gate, bt sorry it's not a very good photo!!
I thought maybe Red-backed Shrike?

Yes granjan I also thought that at first, then changed to Red-backed, but now think you (and my first choice) may be right.........as you say, we'll wait for the experts!!!

The broader dark mask probably suggests Lesser Grey Shrike more than Red-backed Shrike.

Pic taken yesterday at a bridge over the N4. Please help with ID.

Can somebody please assist in identifying these birds? They were in abbundance at Ngwenya Lodge feeding on the seeds we put out.
