Been so worried about Gal today, she's had one of her bad days, never stopped walking round and around the coffee table, bumping me on her way past and trying to climb on me.

Nothing you can do will calm her down, she just carries on walking in circles, panting all the time. Won't lay down for a second. :(

I just wish they could talk that they can tell you what to do.

No Hugh, not to hot, it is a symptom of the doggie Alzheimer's , she carries on like this even when it's cool.

Some days it's better and she is more herself, then other days are like today. Very frustrating not being able to help her.

Yes Dotty, it is sad, she was always such a happy little girl, it's hard to accept that this has happened to her.

Gal says thanks for the compliment, she is actually a kusa( kennel union of SA) bread champion. She won a lot of beauty titles. :gflower:

Our little Billy - of unknown origin and unknown age, but the tenderest-hearted and sweetest, loving dog you'll ever meet - has, for some time and at sporadic intervals, been refusing to eat, but rather grazes for a long time on grass. (We've even likened him at times to a sheep.) However, he yesterday had some blood in his vomitus and his stools were particularly dark. This immediately suggests bleeding in the upper-gastrointestinal tract, so we took him to the vet as soon as they opened in the afternoon.

Juanita is a wonderful veterinarian and, after concurring that there is a potentially life-threatening condition (ulcer, tumour, erosion, or the like) in his system, she referred us to the excellent 24-hour Bryanston Veterinary Hospital, where he will undergo an ultrasound. Juanita wanted to keep him overnight with a drip, but I said that we'd rather keep an eye on him and, if we notice any blood, tenderness in the abdominal/stomach area, or signs of dehydration or blood loss, we'd take him through to the hospital immediately. Juanita also noted that his white blood cell count may be low and that his spleen or liver seems somewhat enlarged.

Happily, he seems content and relatively alert at the moment, so off to the ultrasound at 10.30 this morning. There is nothing worse than the waiting, with that feeling of nervousness and dread that sits in the pit of one's stomach. Hopefully all will be well soon, although, to be honest, I didn't like what I heard. Billy is a shelter-rescued dog, and one never knows how he was treated before reaching the shelter, and indeed how he handled life while there - he was in a cage with 14 other dogs, most larger than him, for over a year.

Holding thumbs for our darling Billy.

OWN, I'm saying a big prayer for your Billy, I do hope that everything goes well with him.

It is so worrying when they are sick, but I do hope he will be ok. :k for Billy.

Something strange happened this afternoon,Gal was pacing again and I was trying to get her attention to try to calm her down and I whistled at her, just a gentle wolf whistle, well she looked at me and went to lay down and went to sleep. This happened a few times in the coarse of the afternoon with the same result.

Well if whistleling at her is what it takes to calm her down I will spend my days doing jut that.

Makes me think of a tune from The King And I, ( I whistle a happy tune and every single time, the happiness in the tune, convinces me that I'm not afraid.)

Worked today, hope its works tomorrow too.

Glad the whistling seems to work for Gal Carol, so guess you are going to whistling many a happy tune in the near future. :D
