Whenever in SA I always buy both of these magazines as we cannot get a hard copy (as far as I am aware) in the UK.

Which of these magazines do you prefer out of interest? Gomag has more going for it from an educational point of view, although Getaway has inspired a few holiday ideas!

We read both magazines but Go is much more "reader friendly"

I started subscribing to Getaway years ago and bought a Go magazine when I saw an article of interest. I might as well subscribe now, as every month has something to interest me.

Both magazines have improved and tried to remain reader friendly. Both have regular features that add immense value. I think that GO magazine has been more innovative of late and the magazine is very entertaining and informative. They have a couple of journalists who really bring articles to life. I also have a sense that GO magazine is also more "in tune" with peoples financial realities and takes in the affordable.

In saying that, I will not miss an edition of my Getaway. It still gives me hours of entertainment and I can read some thing more than once.

.. and then, the other player in the market is our very own "Wild" magazine. It is also on an upward trajectory.

We also used to subscribe to Getaway many moons ago but stopped after a few years as it seemed to feature destinations that were a wee bit too pricey for us. We now get Go on a regular basis and find it more realistic in that the destinations/equipment etc. that are featured are better suited to those of us on "limited income" (that's a new description for pensioners  )

I like both but Go or Weg in Afrikaans, are my favorites because they feature less pricey holiday destinations. Getaway is the one I buy when I want to dream about those exotic one day when I'm grown-up places.

The magazine GO, is the English version of WEG magazine which was started to cater for the Afrikaans speaking people. The name was originally Wegbreek, but then Getaway took them to court and they had to change the name to WEG.

I agree fully with the sentiments expressed by some. I bought every copy of Getaway since April 1989 but stopped when they began to have promotions like "Special, for Getaway readers only. Visit ABC game lodge during mid-week and pay only R1950,00 per person per day. (Free welcoming drinks included) " Needless to say, I will stick to GO or WEG.

We subscribe to Getaway and Go (Weg) via Zinio on the I-pad.

If I have to choose just one it will be Go (Weg).

But I hang on to Getaway, from time to time they have nice Kruger articles and it's almost 50% off on Zinio, unlike Go (Weg) that has no discount for the digital version.

I end up reading both every month, but if there could only be one it would only it would be Go. Also agree the Go has realistic Holiday idea's while the Getaway allows us to Dream

Getaway=holiday when I've won the lotto, Go=holiday that we can afford every year

Go magazine is where I learned about a lovely nature reserve near Mtunzini - very nice and affordable. It sounds like everyone likes Getaway but slightly prefers Go for a more normal type of holiday.

I just got a subscription to Getaway for my birthday, but I usually buy Go as well. I think I prefer Go (didn't go down well with SO when I told her that, after she bought the Getaway subscription)

I can just say "Go" feels more "at home", it feels like it could be "me" in those articles..........
