We were in Kgalagadi from 16 - 22 December. Never needed them. Had drinks there on our way in and found them rather expensive in comparison to the trusted Pick&Pay in Upington. And to be honest - 6km, even less if I'm not mistaken?, is only doable from Twee Rivieren. The restaurant and Take Aways at Twee Rivieren were WAY better. We got ALL our stock in Upington or the park itself when we needed it, even at Nossob.

Before I forget - we did buy something there! We kindly forgot my parents' "toeklaprooster" (what that is in English, I have no idea.) for the braai at Augrabies and couldn't find one in Upington. Bought one there and found out it was cheaper at Twee Rivieren.....

We could not get charcoal at either TR or MM. We flew to Upington and did not buy charcoal at the Pick 'n Pay as we thought that we should be able to buy this at the shops in the Park. As a result we lost all the meat we bought in Upington as we could not do a braai while in the park. I guess we could have attempted a braai with wood, which was available. MM did not have any Coke. At TR there were notices up that Nossob has no ice.

The shops in KTP have only recently been taken over by SANParks again - they were being run privately for many years - and I know the changeover period has been a bit hectic. I'm sure they will only get better and better now :D

Did you try the shop in Namibia, elmar? :D

Apparently run by friends of the guys outside Twee Rivieren. Also expensive but well worth a visit especially on a Tuesday when they get fresh meat. 8)

We asked Kgalagadi Guru why there was no ice at Nossob and were told that they simply haven't found a way to get it there in one piece - literally. 25% of the ice melts before it even reaches Nossob, so not financially worth taking any there.

We got briquettes in Upington and also bought wood in the Park. Had a braai every evening we were there. 8)

As I said, we'll always stop in Upington, if we forget something stop at the shop outside Twee Rivieren. It IS a nice place. Curious to see what will come of the expansions they have in mind. Those include plans to put up a petrol station.

I really wanted to visit the shop in Namibia, but unfortunately my passpart was at the German Embassy in Pretoria. I will certainly visit it next time round. Its nice to know that at least at TR and MM there are alternative places to buy stuff if needed. I can understand the difficulties getting ice to Nossob. Perhaps the forumites can club together to buy Nossob a decent ice machine, then we all can benefit from it.

once we came from MM and there was no wood there nothing left, but on that day they would get new supplies
coming in 2R the bags of wood are loaded in the big wooden boxes
and off they went to MM
I overhear a couple talk if they should buy or not
because in MM there will be plenty
I tell them that the whole camp there is waiting for the new supplies, the camping and all the chalets are occupied they better take 1 or actually 2 from 2R
they look at me if I'm from another planet, oke I'm Dutch so my Afrikaans can be a little weird, but I only mean well
In the end the man says no I don't want wood in my car it's making a mess

Simple GP, just break it up into its constituent parts.

toe - closed
klap - clout
rooster - roaster.

Simple
