there is also a petrol station at Molopolo lodge on the way for the park, about 60 km before the park;the lodge is on the left when you go to the park, not far from the right turn you take to go to KTP.
You can also stop there for a drink or some snacks without problem if you want :)

I always fill up there an have found them open after hours (6:00 in morning), they also sell mean braai wood (cheaper than in Park and always stock)

How safe are you with that wood? If I look at Jannies post? I know kameeldoring is the wood of choice usually. And I do not want to get caught.

I just spent 2 weeks teaching the kids that the Camelthorn is a protected species and that you need a permit to collect the wood ?

Guys I really don't think the owner of the petrol station/shop would take that risk........I know him personally and can't think that he would be selling camelthorn tree wood.

I don't know them personally (although have stayed in their guesthouse a few times) and agree that I don't think they will take a chance. Will ask next time :naughty:

We just returned from a wonderful Kgalagadi trip. Unfortunately we found the shops in the park lacking (basic?) supplies like charcoal / briquettes and ice. Good news is that a dely / shop opened a mere 6 km from the park. They have everything - even bake fresh bread each day, have vacumed packed meat. They also have a restaurant. We won't stop in Upington again to stock up. We will go directly from Upington Airport and stock up at this place. If anybody wants their contact details, please send me a message.

I think could be interested everybody :hmz:
are they vacumed packed meat for "only" one people (per pack) and 4 weeks long
water for 4 weeks = about 20 bottles of 3 litres and a lot of small one

thanks for your informations :k

I am sure one could contact the owner in advance of your trip to cater for your specific needs. They opened 3 months ago and I am sure he will welcome new business. Enjoy your trip!!

I once had to drive 160km round trip to Muzina for R9 worth of fuses for the inverter so 6km is not at all a problem. It's good to know.
