IMHO The first bird is a brown morph brown-throated martin. Rock martin will show a two-tone (dark on top) head and slightly lighter chest/belly than back. The underwing coverts of a Rock Martin is pale-brown and should show up in contrast with the rest of the bird.

Thanks Johan

I learned something new. I didn't even know that this morph exists.

Birding school never stops!

That one learns something new and never ceases to be educated by Ma Nature is the greatest lure Birding has for me...

Waders are really confusing - to me at least!

These two were spotted near Pafuri at the beginning of the month

 They are confusing even to most experts.

I do believe however all three are in fact Wood Sandpipers. That distinct white eyebrow is a good indicator that you can look for next time..

Am I correct in identifying little orange-legs as a Ruff and the other one also a Wood Sandpiper?

Is this also a Ruff - this one plus the previous two were spotted at Maloutswa Hide in Mapungubwe at the beginning of the month.

This one was spotted from the hide at the Treetop Walk (Mapungubwe) on the opposite bank of the river. Is it a Common Greenshank?

I am a bit confused here - again!!

We saw these birds at Mooiplaas waterhole on Christmasday in December and I thought they were Collared Pratincoles. After looking through my pics I now think they were Blackwinged Pratincoles??

What makes you lean towards Black-winged Pratincole, Naomi?

I don't have a reference book with me now, but do BW Pranticoles even occur in KNP?
