I just got my Kruger 2013 - Go! (Weg) magazine done on pre-order. I guess it will be in the shops from mid Dec'12.
It is a most informative edition especially the 15 best roads to drive broken down per the different regions in Kruger. The stories about the dogs used by rangers, a romantic story of how a ranger met his wife, and other excellent reading articles makes for excellent reading.

For more info on Kruger, the Weg or Go! website contains excellent information and lots of photos to assist you with planning your Kruger trip. Check it out:

That's my baby! Thanks for the feedback, Kaapsedraai. I'm so glad you like all the people bits in the guide. Its only going to be in the shops from January but, as you point out, it can be pre-ordered or downloaded via Zinio for electronic readers.

At R40 this must be the best value for money around.

I bought this after my last trip to Kruger. I just needed to dampen the homesickness. What I found was a treasure of information, pictures, facts... even if you are not planning a trip, it is worth the buy.

I have more than a few map books in my possession. I now have one more. What gives this a slightly different feel is the satellite pictures of the various camps.

A must buy

I have got the Afrikaans version, 'Weg! Kruger' The maps however, are basic and does not feature everything a tourist needs. For example, Roodewal is not on the map. Maybe they have deliberately left out the expensive stuff. To be honest, there is nothing new in the book and the contents of the new edition does not differ much from the previous one, but if a book is about Kruger, I must have it.

I’m a Saffa living in London and I still carry with my a KNP map book bought for circa R25 in 2007. I recently borrowed this copy to a friend who used it on a trip for their her first KNP visit and it was perfect. It is held together by various pieces of sticky tape, yet it has proven to be invaluable. My trusty Robert bird guide sorts out the feather friend debate, but even that doesn’t come close to the value for money you get from the Map Book.

The newer versions now feature pictures of the animals and birds versus the sketches of my copy. These kind of books and guides (even if they don’t have Roodewal in them) are worth the purchase.

To put it in perspective: A beer at a pub in Central London could easily cost you £3.50, that is circa R50 depending on the current exchange rate. From a local visitor and tourist perspective the pricing seems very reasonable and depending on the durability of my sticky tape I might end up buying a new version myself.

So I have noticed Os. And a picture too! (A mugshot as we call it here) Although I will never use all the electronic gadgets to track animals, I am sure that there are some that appreciate your work very much. For them, keep up the good work.

Just wanted to say that Rooies is right that we tried to keep the special edition pitched on the affordability side of things -but next time we'll definitely add in Roodewal and Boulders to the maps. Also, it's been two years since the last Kruger edition so all the camp information may seem repetitive but we couldn't leave it out. But there is a lot of new material in the front section (all the interviews with people like Nadav, Elize, the Everatts, Brenden Pienaar and the bush dog story etc.) Oh, and the maps are much improved, after taking advice from readers, with distances etc. and with the drives added in. Lots of hard work went into this and we hope people like it. Andrea

Hi Andrea :D so now the secret is out... a GO lurker.

I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the extra bits, particularly the drives. I think that for those who are not frequent travelers, it is a very helpful bit of information. I also liked the way the various camps were discussed. My edition is already looking dog eared from browsing, and I haven't even taken it to Kruger.

Everyone is feeling the pinch. Value for money is essential.

Ossie :D I certainly saw the article featuring all that you have done for wild life. I felt very proud to have you as a forum member and also a junior ranger.

Congrats Ossendryver!

I also saw the article in the "You" mag a week or so ago, not sure if its the same one as in the Go Kruger mag.

Is it possible for someone from the US to order or obtain a print or digital copy of Go! Kruger somewhere online?
