It was to the right. At about 8am. Only had a small 3X didgital camera with me so had to make use of my binoculars to enlarge the picture.

Best part was my wife and I had him all to ourself!

Almost same thing happened to me at lake panic with wild dogs. All for myself!! Early morning before I went for a round of golf.

Great place that!!

I got a great video, this was an extract from it.

When you exit Skukuza, go in the direction of the Paul Kruger gate.
After 4km you will find the turn off to Lake panic and the nursery on the right.
Then just follow the signs.
We also saw a herd of elephant at the hide once.

Must say we have also had great luck on the dirt road to Lake Panic (funny, never at hide itself..)
Wild dogs in road close to golf course, also leopard in middle of road!
Also buffalo and ellie - we never give S42 a miss!

Like Bert already said, the hide faces an eastern direction.
Afternoon is best, I agree.
My most favourite hide in the whole Park.
Surely not to be missed.

I just love L Panic any time and we have never failed to not see something interesting.
During our Feb. trip we often used to go there at about 4pm and have sundowners, leaving for Kruger Gate half an hour before closing time.
This last trip we saw a Hippo cow bring her baby across the Lake and lie among the reeds and feed it and then they both had a little post lunch nap there, before heading back to the rest of the pod.

You will not be disappointed Salva, I promise you and while in the area carry on up to the nursery and see if the boardwalk is completed, that should be great as well.

Visited this hide for the first time.
What a gem
Hide is just above the water.
Went there twice and saw Hippo, Croc, Goliath Heron
Water Thick-knee (first time for me), darter on his favourite tree etc.

Its a very busy hide and we went in at 15hrs and the hordes arrived at 16hrs. But when we were there everybody kept their voices down so it didn't matter.

We have always enjoyed this hide and have spent many happy hours there. It is busier now than it used to be before it was put on the map!

I have seen 5 wild dogs running after impala here and a huge bull ele snapping a tree like a toothpick. Cois saw a leopard coming down to drink.

Who else saw some of the big 5 and other interesting animals @ lake panic?

Once in the winter months, I saw a lone lioness cruise past along the bank on the extreme right on her way to the water.
She didn't drink where I could see her but it was great to hear the alarm calls of various animals and birds ringing out as she wandered off into the bush.
Last time I was there, I met a yellow ribbon without knowing it! (BB)

A lady-friend of mine was at Lake Panic hide during the recent July school holidays.

She reported seeing two crocs lying on a sandbank, one very big one and a smaller one with a dead hyena in its mouth!?
