I am a musician which is both good and bad... Touring can get annoying if one is away from home for long periods of time - it is a bizarre way to earn a living..

Going onto three-score and ten for me , but very much active in own business ( about 70 employees ) . My two younger associates , including my son , do the grind , sitting in the office all day , while I do the nice bit , travel all over the Boland and Klein Karoo , visiting farmers , involving procurement of fruit , etc .
And I always have my camera with me to take pics of whatever I may see :D

Apart from all the driving around , I spend my time between Cape Town and Worcester .
Usually spend Mondays in administrative offices in Cape Town , then Tuesday to Worcester and stay on farm until Sunday when I travel back to Cape Town .
My SO ( we've been married 44 years ) , also still works in our Cape Town office , and comes to Worcester on Fridays until Sunday . Therefore , I visit her for two days ( nights ) per week , then we are both alone ( really ) for three days ( nights ) , then she visits me for two days - :)
Tread softly , and let your departure not be spoiled by the damage of your arrival

Next :
3 - 6 Sept 2013 - Punda.
7 - 10 Sept 2013 -Shingwedzi .
11 - 13 Sept 2013 - Balule .
14 - 17 Sept 2013 - Satara .

Graham, I too mave done the touring musician thing. It wore me out. That was many years ago. My music was not so mellow, and I did enjoy it for the most part, though spending holidays alone in a hotel room thousands of miles from home is very lonely. I am happy that I no longer do that, now am working in high tech and the only travelling we do is to Kruger!

Marriage was one of the determining factors in the career change. I started working for a company when small desktop business computers were just starting to be used. I wasn't afraid to experiment with the one at the office where I worked, and by default I became the office computer expert. I enjoyed it so took classes, and eventually went to work for a software company, then Microsoft. I currently work for a telecommunications and internet provider. A journey that has been a long and winding one. I really quit performing 20 years ago, only occasionally playing. It has, I am sure extended my life, and has lowered my stress levels.

Hi I am retired now, but I had my own estate agency, I really enjoyed the property market and was very successful doing it,but enough is enough as when you start getting older you cannot keep up with the very long hours and lack of any private life.I wish i could have been closer to Val's home maybe I could have managed to sell it.

My SO is a teacher at a private school, which comes quite in handy with helping the kids with their homework. The added benefit 4 holidays in a year to look after them.

Myself is self employed. Studied accounting and worked for a number of years at a big firm but after my dad retired I took over the transport business. Working longer hours now, but fortunately are running everything now from the house for the past year which makes it much easier. The pleasure working from home is the fact that I'm just a room away to tuck the kids in and that I'm not away from them and SO for days as in the past.
