Morning all,

Just came back from an absolute amazing morning walk.

Just as we started our walk (not even 1 minute into the walk) we came across our first male lion, he was walking about in the riverbed about 50-60m from us. Knowing that we were there he didn’t really pay much attention to us. We watched him for over 15 minute’s roaring his lungs out. The sun wasn’t even over the horizon yet so the light was amazing.

After that nice sighting we walked on for about 15 minutes, at one of the interpretation stops I thought I heard what sounded like lions mating.....So obviously I had to go and have a look. We walked onto the calcrete ridge and waiting there for us was two large black mane males with three females. They took note of us but didn’t show any discomfort so we were outside their comfort zone. We watched as a wildebeest ran straight towards them, I thought today we are going to see a kill on a walk, the male lion went into stalking mode as the wildebeest went straight for him, then at about 10m the wildebeest saw the lion and it was all brakes on and a huge cloud dust as the wildebeest came to a standstill and turn around to get away.
Funny in a way and i think the lions also had a giggle as they didn’t even try and catch it.

And that was the walk

Sorry Shane...but I did think you would love the story after the email. I must admit it is not always the case that we have so many lions on walks, butif they are there then we should make use of the walks. Pitty not may people want to go on these walks.
