Hi all,
I am coming to Ai Ais/Richtersveld NP and I would like to know what can be brought into the park from Namibia. We will travel from Fish River Canyon to Sendelingsdrif, and after having visited Richtersveld, we will return to Namibia, so no further border crossings...
Are firewood and charcoal allowed?
And meat, fresh fruits and eggs?
Thanks for your help.
Hanna

Morning All

We will be in KTP (Kielie, Urikarus and Grootkolk) from the 16 - 26 December 2012. We want to leave the park via Mata Mata. Does anyone know the condition of the road from Mata Mata to Keetmanshoop ?

Appreciate any feedback .............

Thanks

shane,

Road to Keetmans is a very good gravel road. Only area that could be a bit more difficult if it rains, (due to the type of soil used for the road in that area) is a piece close to the Fossile Park - a bit slippery when wet. But if driven carefully/slowly I can see no problem. If no rain - a pleasure road to drive. Remember to stop in KOES at the Moertoe Coffee Shop, very nice light meals and awesome Cheesecake, Carrot and Chocolate cake, Coffee, tea and Cuppucino's. You wouldn't believe how cheap it is.

Enjoy

Good day all togehther
What is to do when we enter in Mata Mata and leave the park in Mata Mata ten days later. Do we have to go to Twee Riveren to get the stamps in our passport before we can leave at Mata Mata?
Thanks for the information.

Hi bigstrontium - there is border control AT Mata Mata so they will stamp you in to SA and then out again when you leave there - no need to go to Twee Rivieren at all

I am travelling from Namibia to the KTP in October. We are entering and leaving via mata mata. I am aware that this does not count as you are leaving Namibia. I just wonderd if anyone knew how the car rental works in that situation. Is there a border crossing fee or not? Do you need any special documents in addition to the standard car hire papers?

Jan-dup was referring to a very nice little coffee shop at Koes (the small little town between Mata Mata and Keetmanshoop). I simply love the very expressive Afrikaans name of it ! !

When we stopped at the hotel last year . . . for a quick coffee on the veranda . . . we were pleasantly surprised when two tame medium sized Warthog came running from the kitchen to meet us . . . being the local household pets ! !

Here Susan is feeding the one with the last of a sandwich.
