Most of you who are active on this thread already love Tsendze and it's not hard to see why.
It really is the nicest campsite in the park, for so many reasons.
We had another really successful visit last month.
Watching Rodgers and Elina worry whenever people who are booked in to one of 'their' sites don't return to camp by closing time, it occurred to me to put out a request here.
If you get side-tracked, or decide to visit friends at Phalaborwa, or don't intend to return one night for whatever reason, PLEASE let Rodgers &Elina - or even Mopani reception - know.
You've no idea the worry you will save them.
Most camps won't know if you're back or not, but at Tsendze the staff check that all their chickens are back in the hok.
If they're not, they worry that you may be stranded somewhere.
That's something special and we should cherish it.

For 12 of the reasons I love Tsendze see http://roxannereid.weebly.com/1/post/20 ... -tops.html .
You can add your own reasons to the list too, if you like.

A little story that left me redface at Tsendze.
My husband and I visited last year (in winter) , but to save costs we traveled with family but could not stay the whole week, to travel back to Pretoria by bus.
After a special request (with the section ranger) to leave the camp at 5h30 we would travel to Phalaborwa to take the bus.

Rodger said he would not be there as he would be on a morning walk, but that he would leave the gate open.

We were at the gate at 5h20 waiting for Rodger.
We waited and waited. I was already stressed about this bus trip.
No Rodger, we waited. eventually at 06h45 other cars arrived.
We told them our story.
Some guy walked to the gate and pushed it open.

Rodger just left it closed to fool the animals.
Needless to say we missed our bus.
We traveled behind the bus all the way to Gravelotte.
There we could show the bus driver that we needed him to stop.

Best feeling ever!! To be able to lift that chain
and to let oneself out!!

Time always drags along when least needed,
yet when not, it flashes past, so nothing better
than a cuppa from the bonnet of the Kruger
mobilum!!

Just to be able to put hands to that chain is
an awesome feeling!!!

Hah Cannot wait!!

Dear Rodger and Elina

We had a most wonderful time at Tsendze last week. It was perfect and the elephants and lion roars kept us all awake. There is the most wonderful atmosphere in the camp, an intimacy with nature, which made us all sad to leave Tsendze.

We will visit again and it was great to chat to you Elina!

Regards

Freddie

Hi everyone, great people out there,

The owls still at the camp, when you pay a visit here, meet me Rodgerh,
I will take you to the hidden place of the owls, yesterday after duty I went out the camp, I drove down towards Phalaborwa site, just 12 kilometers after the Letaba low water bridge, just next to the road, I found 4 lions killed a Kudu,
when I take my camera, pointing at the lions, my camera was not having a battery inside, I forgot the battery at the house,
I did have plan that time, it was lot of cars, I learned a lot to prepare my bush tools in time.

I think there was oodles of info some of which has been edited out of this thread ...

As far as I recall 27 & 28 do not offer much shade . They are quite level .

Hi knorhaan,

The roads in the camp can become quite slippery after a good rain fall. Hope you enjoy your stay at campsite no 3. We camped on that spot for the last two visits to Tsendze and experienced a good thunderstorm there early April 2011.

When its raining go down to Shipandani hide and watch the crocs fishing on the low water bridge.

While you up there can you make notes of the water holes demolished this week in the Mopani area and give us some feedback when you back again.

Hi Elsa. Can you possibly recommend campsites in Tsendze for shade and privacy/silence (preferably along the fence with nobody else in sight) - we are going up in Dec for the first time so it's going to be hot and busy but would really like to pre-book a site that comes recommended... we are bush folk and don't do noise :)

I think number 3 is the most private - but then also the most likely to be booked already!

Hi AMT,
Try to contact Rodger, he is on the forum right here...... he is the most helpful person ever
He and Elina run the camp superbly and visit each site mornings and evenings
Most the sites do have shade at sometime during the day...
And don't worry about noise at Tsendze, Rodger wont allow it :naughty:
