Some amazing lion pics on this thread!!!

A couple of snaps from our trip in Dec 2011 - a very young "pride" (not sure in they were a pride or a group of young nomads) of 5 males and a female at Montrose waterhole...

The next sequence of images were taken about 500m south of the gate to Nossob camp early one August morning in 2011. The lioness had caught the gemsbok relatively recently....

Image

Then on her own, she began to move the carcass, a fully grown Gemsbok

Image

At this stage we were staring into the sun, so we decided to move behind a tree so that we weren't squinting....and we were also in a Polo Vivo....not the highest car at the sighting....the grass was shorter under the tree :D

And she dragged it closer, and closer.....    ....she was heading for our tree!!!!

And then right under the tree next to us!!!

Image

She rested a bit then took a few bites. She didn't stay long, then walked over the road, took one last look back the then disappeared. Judging by her teats, she had a young family she was going to collect.

Image

We now had a problem....we were staying at Mata Mata that night....we had to move on :? ...we later heard she did indeed come back with some young cubs in tow!!

puzzled by the leopard-like rosettes on many of the Kgalagadi lions - the cubs in the recent photos are a good example? Is there anything in these?
