Best place imo is the shopping mall at Louis Trichard (Makhado)
Right next to the N1

Hi all can soomeone help. we arrive at OT next Sunday at 10.50am so by time we get out of airport it will be around noon, problem is we are self catering in Hazyview for a few days and need to get a few groceries on the way. What time do the pick and pay and spar close on Sundays? Is there anywhere else we can get a few essentials, ie bread, milk, butter etc. is Millies at Machadorp a possibility. Thanks all, :gflower: :gflower:

The roadside services will be open. The other supermarkets probably until around 2 or 3pm so you should be OK.

If you are too late, pop into Kruger to shop.

The shops close half an hour after gate closing, but you need to be out again by then......

The larger petrol stations on the highways have small shops that will have a limited choice of 1st night supplies!

If you cannot make Hazyview by 18:00 - then stop of at the Spar at the Grove Centre in Nelspruit - just opposite the Riverside shopping centre - not sure but have an idea they may be open till 19:00 - perhaps you can check.

Try their Rump steak in Grill butter - unfortunately the steaks as they are in the counter are 1 kg pieces of meat but if you can handle that it is really good otherwise cut in half or ask them for a smaller piece.

BTW there is also a Spar and a Checkers in Hazyview - I currently don't know the working hours but will find out for Future.

Just had on other thought if you want meat - you can get that at almost any time at Pioneers Grill - they are a butcher and a Restaurant so you can get meat till the restaurant closes - around 9:00 pm. (they are in the same centre as the Wimpy - on the right hand side as you come into Hazyview)

Just thought I would update on this post having now been and I've already booked flights for next year !!

The shopping collection went like a dream.
We were stopped for no more than ten minutes, parked at the door, I went in whilst other half remained in the motorhome.
Spoke to the manager who happened to be at the desk as I walked in, he knew exactly who I was (Brit abroad I guess and the bags under my eyes probably gave it away !) and brought out three packed boxes, apologised for having to replace a couple of items with similar.
I offered cash or card and he said card was simplest.
Paid with credit card.
Two young men carried the boxes out and put them in the Van.
Back on the road...... and in through Malelane, we will 100% use Pick n Pay at Malelane again, superb service.

Thank you everyone! Will stock up with beer in advance just in case, but leave the fresh food until Sunday.

We are going to be very sleep deprived when we arrive at Nelspruit (about 36 hrs with no sleep) and wondered what the shopping is like in the township of Malelane. We are booked into Malelane camp for our first 2 nights (of 18) and thought we would book into our accomodation (this will be about midday), have an early afternoon nap and then go out of the park and do our shopping. Has anyone else done their shopping in Malelane.
