Hi All

What has the rainfall been like since the beginning of October, particularly in the Southern and Central parts of Kruger? More than usual for this time of year?

Have smaller dams and rivers started filling up or are animals still traveling to and congregating around the larger water sources?

How has the rainfall been in the South (Croc Bridge - Lower Sabie) vs the Central (Satara - Letaba). We will be arriving at Biyamiti and then Roodewaal in one month. I'm very interested to find out how much surface water is around at the moment.

Thanks

We had reasonable rains over this last weekend but to be honest looking at the dams not enough - there has been a lot of evaporation in the last ten days.

Temperature on Saturday 42 degrees before the rain.

Had very light rain overnight and today is overcast - and with a little luck some more rain today.

I hope good rains will come soon to the entire Kruger as it is very hot and dry.

Well, you know what they say about weather forecasts.........

During the January 2012 floods we only had one day of rain during our fortnight stay.

Thunderstorms always last only a couple hours at most and makes the temperatures more bearable anyways.

Camping in the rain is great - enjoy

I am with you on that one Avon, although, having been there during the floods in January, it did not exacty lend itself to amazing picture possibilites :cam: , the animals all but disappeared while the rain came down and the floods came up, the rain came down and the floods came up, the rain came down and the floods came up, and the wiseman's tent stood firm! (through much prayer  )

My wife is not that endearing to the rain/camping combo, so I'm thinking of making a few strategic changes in order for her not to spend any nights in tents while she is there with the boys and I.

My main goal for going is to spend time in GOD's creation and enjoying my wife and kids, although taking pics is right up there!

Pafuri Camp got 17 mm over the weekend. Total for November was 10 mm, October 8,8 mm and September 23 mm, which makes a paltry 58,8 so far for the season.
