Fun is defined in different ways by different people which is probably just as well.

Well... to be in Kruger, can be very peacefull without all the city noises

Noises related to the bush are wonderful, but city noises related to barking dogs, cars with loud music and inconsiderate neighbours are definitely NOT wonderful

Wonderful and peaceful are nights in Kruger; stars are larger, grass whispers, thatch rustles, we breathe evenly and our minds unwind.

Unwind a toilet roll in the ablutions and you'll be guaranteed to be less popular.

Popular is not my main aim, but, fear not, I will never knowingly unwind a toilet roll in the ablutions . . . .

Popular past-time that is, for small children! The object of the "Unwinding Toilet Roll" game is to see a) how much can be unrolled and b) how much can you stuff into the toilet. The fact that you have now blocked that toilet for anyone else to use is..... totally immaterial!

Immaterial things are left at home when we go to Kruger. No TV, no work, no laptops,no phones, no newspapers; not knowing anything about the world outside the park for a couple of weeks gives an idyllic sense of relief.

Relief is the feeling which you get when you can take that one photo in KNP which is going to make your trip worthwhile.

Worthwhile book for birders (or, indeed anyone interested in environmental matters) to read ' Say Goodbye to the Cuckoo' by Michael McCarthy. Refers to UK birds not SA, but fascinating intelligent and beautifully written, I was totally gripped.

Gripped in the maelstrom of an apoplexy, the Kruger "oldie" was awed by the month-old leopard cub.

US of America have different animals species in their Parks to us.

us are the we who become intoxicated by KNP's sounds, sights and smells.
