Jislaaik, Heksie  I also have a healthy respect for our not-so-friendly scorpions. I lived in Central Texas 14 years ago, and we unfortunately became far too well acquainted with the scorpions there, who thought our house was a cool place to visit. The whole fandamily got stung at least twice each, and while the scorps weren't deadly, I'd rather be stung by a hornet. Too eina!!!

Hey Heksie

Finally you checked in and could have a lekker braai and go to bed -- with bugs hanging around!

I don't mind bugs and scopios outside the tent, but I don't sleep with them, if I know there a bug, I will not sleep until it's found and put back into nature. June this year, Baviaanskloof, lots of spiders, to many and I got bitten while sleeping, never sleeping with bugs again.

Love all the birdies! Wondering what will the rain bring, cats and dogs?

Lovely episode again, Liewe Heksie!

Last time we stayed in CB we were seriously bothered by the bats in the room... I did not have the most peaceful of sleeps - but at least I was not afraid of anything pinching or stinging me... I would've had SERIOUD scorpimares too my friend!

Can't wait for the next day...

I am so    of your scrub hare. Have only ever seen one, and it was dead
ANd as for the scorpion-no way I would sleep there. But then again-it probably made a bee line for another hideout, considering the fumes from da broom  .
Coucal is such an interesting bird to watch.
LS to CB-that is a lovely drive, always rewarding

Hi Heksie

After a stunning ride you made it to croc bridge

Love your pics, especially your hippo and one-toothed ellie  .

Nice that you got your first scrub hare sighting

You might have driven a record slow tempo (12hours 181km) but look what you got in return for it :D !

If I need to catch one off my tent, guesss who I won't call.

Like my BIL in Kgalagai. First he leaves the tent open and the Red Roman comes to visit. Then he 'loses' it somewhere in his bedding... :wall:

Ya please don't call me  I'm no scorpie hunter :naughty:
Shame old BIL with the spiders-I'm chill with them I just take them outside and we are buds again

the sighting of the hare is, indeed, a special one

and i also think that other nyoni is a waggy...

It can be a crested korhaan Leach  I've got a kiekie where he turns and I see the red featherkies on his head but now I saw a moewiese black belly and then decided on my name
But my fourth highlight of the day was meeting you! Mr Leg-end :D

Scorp's at night  , Thank God I have never seen one on my trips otherwise I would have slept in the car, nothing scares me more than Spiders and Scorpions.

Really looking forward to more.

Heksie! I FINALLY caught up!

Can’t believe there were buff crossing the R536!!! Love the kiekie of the impie chewing – looks like she’s talking to you! Cute baby zebbie; great steenbok kiekie; gorgeous pics of the lions on the road to Transport Dam; then doggies – awesome! What a treat for you and your Mum! Lovely shots of your ex-fling from March – love the one where he is tossing the beetle in the air ready to swallow it! What lovely pics of the lion cubs with their Mum, and also the ones of the babas alone! Very cute Mum & baby vervet photos! Great shot of the crocarock with his mouth open; lovely unmentionable ones as well; love the shot of the hippo chilling in the sand by the Sabie River; so glad you got to see the korhaan! Your Mum really did have eagle-eyes on that trip – brilliant that she found the scrub hare!

Yep, safari tents 7 and 8 are the best ones at CB … such a pity that you and your Mum didn’t have one and me and my Mum the other on the same weekend! Actually I think that after hearing about the scorpion in tent 7, tent number 8 is the way to go from now on! (Eish, glad Mum and I didn’t see it the week before!)

Ya I know how you and your bugs are-now imagine a scorpie in the tent  Your mum would have gone to the rescue
Now thanks for jumping on this broom and all your wonderful comments :gflower: :gflower: All the sightings were special in their own terms
It would have been lots of fund braaing and kuiering at the fire if we had two tents next to eachother... Maybe do it next year at Tambotie in august? :hmz:

Thanks Pumbaa-we just loved the sound, and that is how we actually got to see one later in the trip. We just hear the pop sound and then we started searching, he didn't play hide and seek that well.
